Bradford vs The Bomb
Bradford Literature Festival is hosting a special panel event marking the 60th anniversary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
Wednesday 04 July
CND was formerly convened in 1958 following the publication in The New Statesman of an article by Bradfordian J. B. Priestley. Since then, Bradford has played a major part in the progression and development of CND, becoming one of the UK’s first Nuclear Free Zones in 1981.
On the panel will be CND General Secretary Kate Hudson, former Trustee of The Peace Museum David Kennedy, and campaigner and academic Michael Randle. The panel will examine the local significance of CND, why Bradford has played such a pivotal role in the movement, and where the future of nuclear lies.
Ticket holders are also invited to an exclusive opening of The Peace Museum between 6:30pm and 7:30pm, prior to the event. Please note the museum is up some 60 steps with no lift.
