Cartoons for Peace
A new temporary exhibition opened at The Peace Museum on Wednesday 18th October and will run until the end of 2017.
The exhibition contains a selection of cartoons which have been used for the means of highlighting and campaigning for a range of peace issues, such as nuclear weapons, war, militarism, damage to the environment, social justice and discrimination. Within the exhibition there is a mix of postcards, drawings, badges, posters and newspapers.
Included is work by Bradford anarchist and cartoonist Donald Rooum, whose cartoons have been published in the British press since the 1950s. Rooum is the creator of the famous political comic strip Wildcat for Freedom newspaper and he has been the editorial cartoonist of the Peace News since 1962.
