Mayor of Peace visits Playing for Peace exhibition

On Tuesday 21st February Oldham’s Mayor of Peace Cllr Derek Heffernan visited the Oldham Sixth Form College for the college signing of the Dichiarazione di Bruxelles Pledge to Peace.  (The pledge was signed by The Peace Museum back in September).  During the mayors visit he viewed the Playing for Peace exhibition, currently hosted by the College.  The exhibition is the result of a collaborative project between Coventry University and The Peace Museum, and was awarded an exclusive Olympic Truce ‘Inspire Mark’, which recognises innovative and exceptional projects that were directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  Playing for Peace celebrates particular occasions in history when sport has played a crucial role in promoting peace and reconciliation.
