World War One at Undercliffe Cemetery Come and join in with the WWI open day weekend at Undercliffe Cemetery, Bradford: Friday 11 July 9.30am – 3.30pm Saturday 12 July 11am – 4pm Sunday 13 July 11am – 4pm There will be storytelling activities; drama performances; choir performances; guided tours; exhibitions; YMCA’s Tea Tent; plant sales and poetry competitions. Suitable for families and school groups. Free entry – donations welcome. The Peace Museum’s collection and education intern Shannen Lang has been working with the Undercliffe Cemetery Charity to uncover the hidden histories and untold stories of WWI COs buried at the cemetery (as told in the ‘Stories in Stone’ strand of Choices Then and Now project). These stories will be told by tour guides and museum staff at the open days, along with other tales of Bradford’s WWI past, including Bradford’s very own war horse. The Peace Museum team will also be running poppy-making workshops – which colour will you make, red, white or purple? WW1 Undercliffe Cemetery Flyer As a result, the Peace Museum’s premises at Piece Hall Yard will be closed on the Friday as all staff will be at the Cemetery supporting the event.
