Greenham March banner

Item type: Banner Date: 1981 Description: Green banner showing the route from Cardiff to Greenham Common of the Peace March in August 1981. The walk was 120 miles and around 40 walkers took part. It was planned by Ann Pettit and Karmen Cutler as a way of protesting against the decision of the British government to allow the USA to base 96 cruise missiles at Greenham Common. The walk set off from Cardiff on 27th August and arrived at Greenham Common on 5th September when four women chained themselves to the gates and the Greenham Peace Camp first came into being. The banner was made by Thalia Campbell and Lucy Higgs.
