Positive Bradford Day
The Peace Museum will be participating in the very first Positive Bradford Day on Wednesday, 28 September 2011. From noon onwards, Centenary Square , the Urban Park and Tyrrell Street will become a giant showcase for all that’s good about Bradford. There’ll be a spectacular, varied programme of music, dancing, fashion shows, sports coaching, crisp tasting, cheerleading, record breaking and great displays to interest just about everybody. Better still, it will all be FREE! Event organisers Positive Bradford, working with many of the district’s dynamic businesses and with Bradford Council, have been inundated with calls from people, groups and companies keen to take part. “It’s just amazing how much support and interest we’re getting,” say Bradford business leaders Jane Vincent and Saleem Kadar, who created Positive Bradford to promote the city and defend it against unfair criticism. Jane added: “We’re not looking at Bradford through rose tinted glasses. We all know it’s got loads of challenges – but what big cities and districts across the country don’t?”. “Bradford people are what makes Bradford great. And Positive Bradford Day will be a fantastic promotional platform, telling the rest of the country, as well as sceptical Bradfordians, just how good a place this really is and what a bright future it can have.”
Visit The Peace Museum’s stall on Tyrrell Street during Positive Bradford Day and have a go at using hand-held technology to see some of the museum’s amazing collection of artects. The Peace Museum will also be leading a guided Peace Trail walk from 1.00 pm (lasting until about 2.30 pm) on Positive Bradford Day. The walk will begin from the front doors of The Peace Museum at 10 Piece Hall Yard (BD1 1PJ – across from Waterstones book shop and City Vaults pub) at 1.00 pm. We hope to see you there. The Peace Museum (10 Piece Hall Yard, BD1 1PJ) will also be open from 11-3 during Positive Bradford Day.
